Sichuan Telecom Corporation is a whole-owned subsidiary of China Telecom Group. As a state-owned company, it runs the fixed line networks and assets allocated by China Telecom Group.

　　On July 28th 2000, holding the unveiling ceremony, China Telecom Group Sichuan Corporation was formally set up.

　　Sichuan Telecom has twenty-one city branches, three affiliates and one holding company (Sichuan Telecom Industrial Ltd Co.). The staff totals 20.3 thousand with 18.6 thousand retired and semi-retired staff excluded. The total asset reaches 21.2 billion RMB now .

　　As an important part of the Hi-tech IT industry and main body carrier in Sichuan, the business scope of Sichuan Telecom covers from fixed line networks to data communication services. It is the only virtual incumbent to provide universal service, emergency services and the services to the government in Sichuan. With its contribution, Sichuan Telecom inputs strong impetus to the sustainable, rapid and healthy development of the domestic economic in this region.

　　In 2002, Sichuan Telecom get turnover of 74.9 billion RMB, with 2.3 billion in profit. The subscriber totals 864 million, and the main line penetration rate reaches 10.24%. Sichuan Telecom surpass other west telecom companies in the performance index checked by China Telecom Group in three successive years, with the main index better than the average level of the Group.

　　In 2003, Sichuan Telecom sets its new target, " Focus on outside market, inside management and efficient development to upgrade Sichuan Telecom to the first class telecom operator in the west in the next 3 to 5 years."This ambition will be fulfilled by first class service, highly advanced network, efficient management and excellent working staff.
